About the role
Aurizon, Australia’s largest rail freight operator and a top 100 ASX-listed company, is experiencing continued growth and is seeking a dynamic Commercial Implementation Lead to join our Network Business Unit. This pivotal role provides commercial and strategic advice and support to our Network unit, spearheading major expansion projects and other supply chain initiatives. The aim is to drive value for our customers and shareholders by delivering commercial outcomes and fostering innovation across our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Lead and advise managers on expansion study opportunities, evaluating options and related issues to achieve commercial objectives.
- Project Management: Oversee the expansion study process through required stage gating and investment requirements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Commercial Initiatives: Identify and lead initiatives that create value for the business and customers through analytical and creative approaches.
- Operational Integration: Facilitate the integration of operational elements and technical design disciplines, coordinating efforts between operators and maintainers.
- Infrastructure Planning: Define future rail infrastructure and train configurations to meet throughput and operational requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives for continuous operational, infrastructure, and asset improvements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain and support key stakeholder relationships
About You:
We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in commercial and strategic planning, ideally within the rail, transport, logistics, or mining sectors.
- Educational Background: A degree in a relevant discipline such as business, finance, or economics.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of rail, transport and logistics, or mining industries.
- Strategic Skills: High level of skill in strategic planning and tactic formulation within a commercially focused business environment.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage large, multidisciplinary projects using best practice project management techniques.
- Commercial Acumen: Extensive experience working in a commercial and regulatory environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of coal supply chain operations and rail infrastructure design.
- Communication Skills: Strong strategic communication, interpersonal, reporting, and negotiation skills.
- Analytical Abilities: High level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Presentation Skills: Ability to draft compelling business cases and present complex business initiatives effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
