We currently have an opportunity for a Commercial Manager to manage construction and asset management contracts for a variety of projects.
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure commercial terms and complex contract negotiation and advice between the company and the clients are delivered ensuring improvements in performance, compliance, cost, safety, risk and quality.
Key duties:
Manage commercial functions during the tender phase and subsequent contract negotiations
Establish effective interactions with Legal, Finance, Commercial and Business stakeholders
Manage relationships with internal / external customers & cross business / functional requirements
Liaise closely with Project Management and Supervisory staff to ensure all variations are managed effectively
Provide specialist advice on commercial matters, and contract negotiations pre and post contract
Review contract management plans from standpoint of staffing and monitor implementation of same to confirm proper resourcing (i.e., staffing quality and quantity) is provided for project scope to meet schedule and other project requirements
You will have:
Tertiary qualified in Commercial, Business, Law, Engineering, or similar
10+ years in a comparable commercial role in construction, mining, engineering, or similar heavy industry
Strong commercial awareness and ability to be the primary point of contact for all commercial and contractual matters; including ongoing liaison with client representatives, contractors, and vendors
Proven ability to produce strategies in risk mitigation and management, contract establishment, contract management and disputes resolution
An ability to listen and identify key issues and to communicate complex information clearly
Extensive contractor side experience including exposure to contract disputes and claims development and submission
Implementing and improving commercial processes and procedures, to ensure effective contract management
Understanding of vertically integrated contracting models e.g., EPCM, EPC
Understanding of project accounting reporting requirements and variance analysis
Advanced MS Office suite skills
Exceptional organizer who can multi-task whilst managing complex and high volumes of work
