About Us
The Department of Transport, through Head, Transport for Victoria, has contracting relationships with our major train and tram operators - Yarra Trams & Metro Trains Melbourne, managed on behalf of the Victorian Government. DoT is establishing a new project team, MR5, which will be comprehensively reviewing the State's franchise framework.
About the Role
Working closely with a relevant Workstream Lead/Director (Customer, Operations, Projects, Assets and Rolling Stock), and broader project stakeholders, and drawing on the expertise of specialist advisory consultancies, the Commercial Manager will be responsible for undertaking detailed analysis of existing and potential arrangements and financial / commercial / operational / asset data to assess performance to inform future contractual requirements.
Key Accountabilities
- Gather and analyse information from within DoT and from other sources to support development of arrangements for the new agreements
- Prepare project documentation and advice, including submissions to government and internal stakeholder briefings, on the project workstream areas of review/change and other complex commercial / policy matters
Key Selection Criteria
- Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Resolves issues through deep understanding or interpretation of existing guidelines. Where guidelines are not available, analyses ideas available and takes action through self, or in consultation with others to resolve problems
- Project Delivery: Defines tasks to be delivered to meet agreed outcomes
