About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager Commercial to lead the growth and optimisation of commercial opportunities across SSCT venues. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing strategies that drive revenue growth, enhance venue utilisation, and foster strong partnerships. An understanding of the need to balance commercial opportunities with the needs of our sport partners and policies and other guidelines set by the Victorian Government and the Trust is critical.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to develop and implement strategies that maximise commercial opportunities across SSCT venues
- Create and implement initiatives to optimise venue use and generate revenue, aligning with the guidelines set by the Victorian Government, the Trust, and CEO
- Lead and mentor the commercial team, fostering a supportive and collaborative team culture that encourages innovation and cooperation
- Oversee the Events and Bookings & Food and Beverage teams, ensuring efficient operations and exceptional customer service
- Manage leasing, licensing, and contract management functions across all venues
- Lead the annual review of pricing for services and agreements across venues, making recommendations for adjustments as needed
- Analyse SSCT business data, industry insights, and market trends to provide evidence-based strategic recommendations for enhancing product offerings and increasing commercial returns.
- Work closely with sports partners, event promoters, government departments, and other stakeholders to identify and implement opportunities to optimise venue use and explore revenue-sharing possibilities
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to identify and secure major event opportunities, increasing the range and number of event and function bookings
Required skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in commercial management, preferably within the entertainment, sports, or hospitality industry
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- An understanding of, and ability to, balance commercial opportunities with the needs of our sport partners and policies and other guidelines set by the Victorian Government and the Trust
- Excellent analytical and strategic planning abilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of leasing, licensing, and contract management
- A proactive and results-driven approach
