Vikcon is looking for a bright and enthusiastic Commercial Manager who has experience in contracts management, project management and business development.
Vikcon is a renewables construction firm that prides itself on providing great service and on-time delivery to its clients. With a staff of nearly 300 employees the firm operates on various engineering and construction projects on the eastern seaboard of Australia. With many talented engineers and tradespeople, the company continues to develop its service lines in the renewables business, focusing specifically on solar and wind farm construction and construction of HV sub-stations and powerlines and associated earth moving and foundations work.
As the Commercial Manager you will:
- Oversee the business development process, developing service lines and working with strategic partners to consolidate business relationships in the renewables space.
- Solicit, screen and manage the preparation and lodgement of tenders, including quality control of supporting documentation.
- Develop positive and robust relationships with principal contractors and clients to mange the delivery and execution of projects in accordance with milestones, rates and contract terms and conditions.
- Represent the company as the principal contract specialist to negotiate and resolve contract disputes.
- Address contract variations, delays, non-conformances and program changes in association with site engineers, supervisors and foreman.
- Act as a safety and performance role model to all company employees.
- Work with the company construction and project managers to conduct operational -readiness and mobilise and de-mobilise projects in accordance with the contractual requirements of the client.
- Work as part of the company leadership team, providing up to date status reports to fellow leadership team members, and collaborate and cooperate on organisation improvement and leadership initiatives.
- Work with the company finance manager to develop and report on project profits and losses and ongoing delivery costs to a high standard.
Please apply if you have:
- A degree in law, business, project management and/or engineering.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in contract administration and management and with commercial activities such as bids management and business development in an engineering or construction business.
- Training and experience in contract negotiations and dispute resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully business partner with multiple non-commercial functions to deliver complex projects.
- Bright and friendly personality with good interpersonal skills
- Proven experience and tendency to want to create and improve systems and processes.
- Able to work individually demonstrating initiative, but also willing and capable to work as part of a team.
- Ability to travel intra and interstate when required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a common-sense approach.
