Job description

Under the guidance of the General Manager - Legal and Commercial, the Commercial Manager assumes a leadership role within the Commercial team. This involves providing strategic commercial and contract management expertise, ensuring alignment with RAC's purpose, vision, and mission, and actively contributing to the execution of strategic objectives.

As a dynamic leader, you will empower the Commercial team to attain optimal commercial results and heightened value for RAC and its Members. This entails inspiring and supporting team members through continuous consultation, guidance, compliance, procedural governance, superior customer service, innovation, and consistent delivery of commercial value.

Additionally, you will play a key role in enhancing outcomes, processes, and procedures, standardizing documents, and driving improvements in systems. . What will you be doing? An exceptional chance awaits a seasoned and passionate leader to shape the realization of RAC's Commercial Strategy, concurrently overseeing the day-to-day operations of this expanding team.

In addition to this, key responsibilities will include: Coach and build the ongoing development of the team and RAC staff involved in commercial and contract management activities to improve the commercial acumen at RAC Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of contract and commercial procurement management policies and procedures and implement initiatives to deliver improved commercial outcomes and value for RAC Assess compliance with RAC Commercial policies and procedures, and develop strategies to address ongoing commercial and contract excellence governance Drive the reduction of external spend and internal costs through improved commercial practices and strategic sourcing, including supplier category management Supervise and oversee the bids and proposals process, supporting/coaching the team and businesses as required, including strategy and recommendations for contract selection. Manage ongoing measurement of performance tracking of Commercial, including KPIs and cost-savings achieved Advise and provide expertise and strategic support to RAC businesses on Commercial-related matters, including commercial contract interpretation, property leases, advice, risk mitigation and analysis to business stakeholders, including support as required on supplier management, KPI and contract performance reviews Lead commercial negotiations of contracts and property leases, including the coordination and finalization of relevant terms and conditions. Lead internal and external audits and ensure timely follow-up of any findings.

In addition to this, here is what we would love: Formal qualifications in Commerce, Business, or a related discipline or equivalent business experience is mandatory Excellent commercial business acumen and strategic thinking skills Extensive experience in a leadership position in a similar role, preferably in a values-based organisation. High level of influencing, problem solving and relationship management skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships across all levels of the organisation and with external providers Strong understanding of contract and commercial law, commercial contracts, property leases, and risk management.

Demonstrated experience in drafting and developing contract schedules and statements of work, contract negotiation and contract management is mandatory. Strong experience in bids, tenders, and procurement activities. Demonstrated experience in supplier and category management, including working with KPIs and SLAs Demonstrated experience managing complex projects, including scope, time, cost, quality, communications, risk, procurement and integration
