East Fremantle Football Club is WA’s most successful WAFL football club, with a rich tradition dating back over a century. The club’s activities span men’s and women’s football, junior talent development and regional and Indigenous talent activation. As we embark on an exciting new chapter, we are seeking a dynamic and results-driven individual to join our team as General Manager - Commercial Operations. Our club is on the cusp of a transformative journey with the construction of a state-of-the-art $32 million facility, scheduled to be ready for the second half of the 2024 season.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, as the General Manager – Commercial Operations you will play a pivotal role in fostering strategic partnerships, driving sponsorship opportunities, and orchestrating memorable events that enhance the East Fremantle Football Club's brand and community engagement. You will be responsible for commercial revenue streams including partnerships, events, membership and merchandise, while overseeing marketing and administration.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Partnerships Development:
- Identify, initiate, and manage strategic partnerships with local businesses, sponsors, and community organisations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and potential sponsors, ensuring their objectives align with the club's mission and values.
- Leverage marketing assets to create sponsorship packages that provide value to partners and align with club initiatives.
2. Sponsorship Management:
- Oversee the implementation and fulfilment of sponsorship agreements, ensuring all commitments are met and sponsors receive maximum exposure and benefits.
- Regularly communicate with sponsors to assess satisfaction, address concerns, and explore opportunities for further collaboration.
- Explore innovative ways to showcase sponsors during matches, events, and other club activities.
3. Marketing & Brand:
- Develop and implement marketing campaigns to promote club events, merchandise, membership packages and game day experience.
- Utilise traditional and digital marketing channels to reach target audience and drive engagement.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy to engage fans, sponsors, members and the broader community
- Develop strategies to enhance the club's brand visibility through partnerships and events.
4. Event Planning and Execution:
- Conceptualise, plan, and execute a variety of events, including matchday experiences, community engagement events, and exclusive sponsor functions.
- Coordinate logistics, manage budgets, and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful event outcomes.
5. Community Engagement:
- Collaborate with local community groups and schools to enhance the club's presence and promote positive community relationships.
- Leverage events and partnerships to create meaningful connections with fans and the broader community.
6. Membership:
- Oversee the club’s membership program, driving growth and retention through targeted acquisition and retention strategies.
- Develop membership packages and incentives to attract new members and enhance the value proposition for existing members.
- Provide exceptional customer service to members, addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner.
7. Merchandise
- Manage the design, production and sale of club merchandise, ensuring quality, profitability and brand consistency.
- Develop merchandise strategies to capitalise on seasonal trends, events and fan preferences.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to maintain inventory levels and fulfill customer orders efficiently.
8. Administration:
- Oversee all non-football administrative operations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in one or more of the following pillars, with the ability to demonstrate transferrable skills for the other areas: partnerships development, sponsorship management, event planning and execution, marketing and communications, membership management, merchandise sales.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Demonstrated record of success in leading multidisciplinary teams to achieve KPIs.
- Exceptional organisational and project management skills.
- Knowledge of the local community and business landscape.
