About the role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, our new Commercial Specialist will be acting as a business partner, working collaboratively with other business units and external stakeholders. This position will be centred around developing/tracking analytics and key statistics, hosting contract management meetings, as well as supporting the development of new strategies to do with sourcing/procurement and negotiations.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Develop category and supplier strategies for suppliers
- Conduct commercial and financial analysis for key contracts
- Collaborate with Finance team to analyse contract mechanisms including performance-based payments
- Develop financial models and forecasts to support strategic decision-making for procurement
- Support management of supplier performance
- Collaborate with Procurement team to ensure alignment to required policies and governance
- Develop effective, data driven supplier relationship management plans
- Maintain connection to market and best practices in Supplier Relationship Management
- Determine critical metrics to track supplier performance, communicate expectations to suppliers and facilitate on-going performance/improvement plans
About you
- Experienced in data manipulation and analysis to support cost modelling
- Must have 2+ years’ experience successfully working on procurement tenders and/or contract management
- Good working knowledge of standard goods and services supply arrangements
- Proven experience providing simple issue resolution and managing conflict with suppliers
- Demonstrated experience using ERP systems effectively
- Proven experience successfully using Microsoft suite applications (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Economics, Finance (or other related field)
Salary for this position is commensurate to the successful candidate’s aligned skills and experience to the position.

Remuneration for this position will be in line with the V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employees Agreement 2019 / Asset Management Enterprise Agreement 2019).
