This independent office ensures the safety and well-being of Queensland's invaluable resources workforce by overseeing the performance and health of the resources safety regulator, Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ). Established as an independent office under the Resources Safety and Health Act 2020, the Commissioner for Resources Safety and Health leads the charge, engaging with stakeholders across mining, quarrying, explosives, and petroleum and gas sectors, to promote and safeguard the welfare of those affected by industry operations.About the Role and You
As the Commissioner for Resources Safety and Health, you'll step into a role of significant influence and responsibility, shaping the safety landscape of Queensland's resources industry. Reporting directly to the Minister for Resources and Critical Minerals, you will provide expert advice, navigate strategic priorities, and oversee the performance of RSHQ's functions with unwavering dedication.We're seeking a dynamic individual where innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to public interest are central.Key to your success will be your ability to foster crucial relationships, both internally with the Minister's office and the Chief Executive Officer of RSHQ, and externally with industry stakeholders, trade unions and government agencies. You will address the diverse challenges of worker safety and health within the mining, quarrying, petroleum, gas, and explosives industries.
