About Eco Markets Australia
Eco-Markets Australia (EMA) is Australia’s independent administrator of voluntary environmental markets. A not-for profit organisation, EMA creates opportunities for farmers, graziers, and land managers to be paid for the work they do in improving our environment.
EMA does this by administering crediting schemes that explicitly measure, value, and pay for activities which result in positive& environmental outcomes. The first product developed is the Reef Credit Scheme – a world-first environmental market scheme designed to improve the quality of water flowing to the Great Barrier Reef.
About the role
The Communications and Market Education Officer will:
• develop and execute communication strategies to educate stakeholders about EMA’s services and environmental markets
• design and implement educational initiatives
• produce high quality, informative and engaging multimedia content
• foster strong relationships with stakeholders
• monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives and report on key insights
Working alongside EMA’s Landholder & Market Liaison and Reef Credit Secretariat, the Communications and Market Education role will assist with stakeholder engagement to help elevate knowledge, build confidence in, bridge gaps in awareness, and promote participation in the Reef Credit Scheme and other environmental markets.
The position will proactively manage EMA’s website content, social media, webinars, newsletter, engagement with the media, and all other communication and content development.
Our ideal candidate
EMA is seeking an experienced Communications and educational content creator who is a confident all-rounder across writing, editing, designing, publication and evaluation. Someone who is accustomed to working in a small team is and comfortable with adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
You have demonstrated prowess with written and verbal communication with an ability to communicate effectively across multiple stakeholders.
The role is Brisbane based and may require infrequent travel to other parts of Queensland.
Essential qualifications and skills
• Proven experience in communications, marketing, Market Education, or related roles, preferably in a similar industry or sector.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and engaging manner.
• Strong content creation and management skills, including writing, editing, graphic design (Canva), website management (Wordpress) and multimedia production.
• Knowledge of educational principles, and instructional design.
• Familiarity with market research techniques and data analysis.
• Experience in developing and delivering training, workshops, and educational fact sheets and materials.
• Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms, such as content management systems, social media management tools (LinkedIn, Mailchimp) and analytics platforms.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of relevant industry trends, market dynamics, and best practices in Market Education.
• Degree level tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, education or a related field.
Desirable qualifications and skills
• A genuine interest in the environment, agriculture and sustainability sectors would be desirable.
• An understanding of the environmental markets sector and commitment to promoting sustainable land management practices is desirable.
• Brisbane based, able to travel infrequently.
