YOUR NEW ROLEThe primary purpose of this role is to promote positive awareness of Carer Gateway and its services within Merri Health, and to target consumer audiences and stakeholders statewide, to help drive Carer Gateway registrations.

The role will design and implement standardised communications processes and materials, ensuring timely, effective and consistent messaging across internal and external stakeholders. This role is the primary conduit between Merri Health and consortia partners, keeping partners informed of marketing and communications activities, facilitating Carer Gateway change initiatives, and offering advice to consortia partners to enhance relationships with stakeholders and carers. The Communications Senior Advisor is also responsible for leading the Marketing, Communications & Engagement Community of Practice (CoP), providing advice and oversight to its (seven) consortia members and ensuring consistency of messaging across all consortia communications.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FORReporting to the Manager, Carer Services, this role:

  • Provide specialist advice on best practice approaches to communications strategies.
  • Provide timely advice to key personnel on communications strategies.
  • Oversee the development and roll-out of a Carer Gateway communications plan and activities.
  • Oversee the development and distribution of internal and external electronic and print communications for Carer Gateway Victoria.
  • Create high quality change communications, liaising closely with stakeholders to achieve positive change outcomes.
  • Manage budgeted communications initiatives, ensuring they are delivered within agreed budget.
  • Create content for various channels, such as newsletters, publications, campaigns, social media, website, emails, intranet, extranet.
  • Write, format and edit clear, concise, and compelling copy and storytelling, ensuring messaging consistency.
  • Ensure that the Carer Gateway brand voice and style guidelines is in all written content.

Oversee consortia brand voice, provide advice and support to partners and address inconsistencies directly.

  • Create and maintain a content calendar to ensure timely and consistent content delivery.
  • Apply SEO trends to optimize content for search engines.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, competitors, and best practices to inform content development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information, insights and subject matter expertise for content creation.
  • Analyse content performance metrics (engagement, reach, conversions) and make data-driven adjustments.
  • Oversee the creation of multimedia content.
  • Comply with program policy, guidelines and funding agreements and all relevant legislation, regulations and standards.
  • Identify and implement innovative and contemporary content formats and advise consortia partners on how to implement them.
  • Coordinate data from multiple channels to prepare and present performance reports and recommendations.
  • Make recommendations for targeting professional audiences (GPs, hospitals, etc.) and support the growth of Merri Health’s Carer Gateway mailing list.
  • Liaise with suppliers as required.
  • Identify and coordinate promotional opportunities for Carer Gateway via relevant local and national communication channels.

TO SUCCEED IN THE ROLE YOU WILL HAVEEssential:

  • Qualifications in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations or related field and 4+ years’ experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving and managing internal and external communications in a government or not-for-profit environment.
  • Proven ability to write in a clear, concise and engaging manner for different audiences and purposes.
  • Exceptional stakeholder and relationship management skills, with proven ability to drive collaboration and create partnerships to achieve outcomes.
  • Advanced IT computer literacy and experience in using software programs such as SWIFT, CANVA, and/or Adobe Suite.
  • Sharp attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A positive attitude, a proactive approach and a strong team spirit.

Desirable:

  • Experience within the not-for-profit sector and/or working within a values-based organisation.
  • Experience working with carers and an understanding of the challenges facing carers.
  • Experience in delivering communication plans for diverse audiences.
