About the Role
The requirement is for the services of one (1) APS 6 Communications Officer to support Directorate Regional Engagement, and the broader DMFS with:
- Development of a marketing activity and branding to support increased awareness of the work being undertaken by the Directorate of Regional Engagement (DRE) within DMFS. This would be competed in collaboration with the DRE, Administration Manager DRE and additional stakeholders
- Branding requirements - DRE are seeking expertise in developing a brand to represent Directorate of Regional Engagement as a function of DMFS to better engage internal and external stakeholders
- Creation of a succinct marketing strategy to communicate the resources available to ADF members, their families and Command teams within the ADF.
- Ensuring the DRE marketing activity is in alignment with the DMFS Communication and Marketing Strategy, and
- Implementation of branding activity and Marketing activity.
The Defence standard working day is 7.5 hours plus a 30 minute lunch break. This position will be full time, 5 days per week.
We are seeking a suitably qualified applicant who is able to demonstrate their ability to:
- Liaise with Director Regional Engagement to identify key communication priorities for regional DMFS.
- Progress communications priorities and evolve communications strategies through the DMFS.
- Support the initial development and implementation of Directorate of Regional Engagement Marketing Project and Strategic Communications Plan.
- Develop, update and implement the Directorate of Regional Engagement communication plan in line with Defence People Group and DMFS business plan goals.
- Liaise with strategic business partners to progress communications priorities and evolve communications strategies.
- Review and update DMFS Regional key messaging to all stakeholders.
- Develop social media content.
- Undertake content review of DMFS website to ensure information pertaining to Directorate of Regional Engagement is relevant and contemporary.
- Source and write Directorate of Regional Engagement good news stories for internal and external magazines, service newspapers, external publications and Ministerial clients.
- Support Director Regional Engagement in responding to media enquiries and write media releases.
- Manage Directorate of Regional Engagement merchandise quality assurance and procurement.
- Provide updates/advice to the Administration Manager - Directorate of Regional Engagement and Strategy to support alignment across all internal and external communications products.
- High level communication and media qualifications, and industry experience are required for this role.
- The successful candidate will be required to deliver sensitive and time critical material.
- Coordinate administrative and business support activities for a team and other work areas, identify risks and determine appropriate course of action to meet stakeholder needs.
- Accountable to perform complex procedural, operational, administrative and business support activities and tasks that support the delivery of outcomes across Defence.
- Identify and interpret relevant legislation, policies, strategies, business and team requirements and apply these to the work area.
- Apply the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to provide advice and services for a range of complex corporate, administration and business support activities.
- Engage and negotiate with stakeholders on complex issues to achieve business outcomes.
- Work collaboratively, build and sustain effective relationships and provide constructive feedback.
- Take the initiative to progress work to meet business objectives, provide advice and guidance on more complex issues.
- Resolve problems and implement alternative courses of action.
- Accountable to develop and implement procedural, operational, corporate, administrative and business support documentation consistent with business requirements.
