FamilyLinQ aims to enhance the life outcomes of Queensland children and their families by bringing together early years learning, education, wrap-around health and community services – all under one roof. This co-designed model will support children and families as they grow, learn and thrive. The Bryan Foundation and State Government have invested over the next 10 years to deliver two state-of-the-art hubs.

We are seeking an engaging Community Connector for Kingston State School FamilyLinQ on a casual basis. As a Community Connector (SCHADS Level 4), you will play a crucial role in creating a safe, culturally inclusive environment for local children and their families. Your responsibilities include fostering genuine relationships with Kingston State School families, supporting community development initiatives, and facilitating access to integrated services and programs.
You may work up to 20.8 hours a week, providing a flexible work arrangement, ideal for those who value a reduced workload during school holidays. This position plays a pivotal role in contributing to the daily operations of the FamilyLinQ team based at Kingston State School. You will generally be required to work shifts between the hours of 7:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday (inclusive); however, your availability and the roster requirements will be discussed further at the interview.
Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesAs a Community Connector (SCHADS Level 4), you will:
- Create a safe, welcoming space for KSS students and families.
- Build trust and rapport with families, especially from First Nations and CALD backgrounds.
- Facilitate community development initiatives and partnerships.
- Support families in accessing integrated services and programs.
- Develop and promote activities and workshops to enhance engagement.
- Provide administrative support and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Contribute to positive workplace culture and team collaboration.
- Assist in program evaluation and overall hub operations.
- A passion for working with children and families for social change and community development.
- High level ability to work collaboratively with First Nations stakeholders and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to develop and support productive relationships with families and services through applying a collaborative solutions focused approach.
- Highly effective people skills – ability to effectively and sensitively negotiate, manage and resolve conflict.
- Communication - strong written, verbal and active-listening skills.
- Well-developed project management, organisation and time management skills.
- Highly reflective in practice with a strengths-based approach to problem solving.
- Experience working in diverse settings which may include early years, community development, health or education sectors.
- Preferred: relevant tertiary qualification in Education/ Health/ Community Development/ Early Years/Family Support.
- All successful applicants will undergo National Police Checks, blue card screening, and referee checks. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of these checks and compliance with identification verification.
