About the role
As the Community Development Lead, you will lead the operational planning and management of the Community Development team to strengthen the Palmerston community through the delivery of a range of innovative and diverse programs, projects and services.
The role reports directly to the Community Services Manager and is responsible for the daily supervision of the Community Development team and leading the youth services program that contributes to the delivery of the City of Palmerston Community Plan including the following:
- Community Development Activities and Projects
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Community Grants
- Community Programs
About you
- You should have relevant tertiary qualification and extensive experience in Community Development.
- Ability to lead, supervise and develop a Community Development team including annual planning, identifying training and development requirements and managing work performance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary issues and initiatives in relation to the delivery of Community Development.
- Ability to interpret, adhere to, follow, and regulate relevant Council legislation and policies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise with a wide cross section of people and stakeholders.
- Proven experience working in partnership with a range of stakeholders such as local, state and federal governments, non-government organisations, and the community in a collaborative partnership.
- Demonstrated ability to plan strategically, implement best practice policies, systems and standards.
- Proven ability to develop high quality corporate documentation, including project briefs, complex reports, minutes and agendas.
- Demonstrated strong organisational and program coordination skills.
- High level of competency in the use of information technology systems and applications.
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required for community events
