Senior Community Development Officer
With 60 years of service to Australian communities, the Alcohol & Drug Foundation (ADF) is an independent not-for-profit and Australia's leader in AOD harm prevention. About the Role

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

  • Address local AOD issues through an agile holistic place-based approach
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with community groups, stakeholders and partners
  • Engage and collaborate with ASTI community leaders and groups exercising cultural awareness, sensitivity and understanding
  • Contribute, promote and deliver ADF programmes, community events, forums, workshops and pilot programmes
  • Effectively plan, manage and deliver projects and programmes, meeting milestones and KPIs within compliant policy and legislative framework
  • Ensure all data and program activity is recorded accurately
  • Actively participate in internal working groups, attend ADF communities of practice sessions, professional development and training opportunities.
About You

In addition, you will possess the following:

  • Understanding of drug and alcohol-related issues, harm reduction and harm minimisation approaches
  • Demonstrated understanding and practice of Community Development principles and a willingness to pro-actively engage with communities to support delivery of place-based harm prevention approaches
  • Awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to form genuine relationships and work collaboratively with community to achieve outcomes
  • Strong self-starter to independently plan, manage and deliver on program objectives and targets
  • Excellent communication skills with experience developing difficult stakeholder relationships and influencing change
Travel & Compliance
  • Interested candidates must already hold, or be willing to undergo, a Working with Children check (OCHRE)
  • Inter-state and State-based travel is required as part of program delivery and will be required from time-to time. Interested candidates will need a current Driver's License and have their own vehicle.
