Community Development Manager 

King Island Council are seeking to recruit a Community Development Manager to join their Senior Management Team based at Currie, on King Island. Accordingly, applications are sought from suitably qualified and experienced candidates looking for their next employment challenge and a work/life balance on the picturesque King Island, located between Victoria and Tasmania.

The Position:

This is a permanent full-time position, working a rostered 38 hours per week, and the successful applicant will need to be based on King Island, to perform the operational requirements of the position.

This position will be responsible for the effective and efficient performance development within the community, ensuring there is a smooth workflow which meets the needs of the residents of King Island.  This will include but is not limited to Community Development services (sport, recreation, community health and wellbeing); community social wellbeing (community connection and social environment cultivation) and culture and heritage (managing the cultural centre and heritage within the realm of this positions responsibility).

Remuneration is in accordance with the King Island Council Enterprise Agreement 2023, with an annual base salary of $108,344 per annum plus superannuation. Should the successful applicant be relocating from interstate, Council may assist with a relocation allowance.

The Person:

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years in a similar senior management position, and have a tertiary qualification in Community Development, Sociology, Social Sciences or an applicable discipline.

Similarly, strong leadership skills, highly developed project management skills, excellent computer proficiency and a current Australian drivers licence are prerequisites for this position. In addition to, well-developed and professional written and oral communication skills, somebody who is a motivated self-starter who can plan, organise and prioritise their work to ensure deadlines are met, has highly-developed interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic to work collaboratively and cohesively with all stakeholders.

• Highly developed project management skills and demonstrated experience in effectively managing complex programs/projects.
• Highly developed proposal, recommendations and report writing skills.
• Excellent computer proficiency and working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
• Current Australian Class C Drivers Licence.
