Community Development Officer - Youth

The City of Launceston, an award winning Employer of Choice, is currently seeking to fill the following position:

Position Title:         Community Development Officer – Youth

Position Number:   POS1626

This temporary full time (maternity cover) position will contribute to the planning and development of programs and projects across the community, targeting young people. The Community Development Officer will prepare and deliver an annual work plan that creates strong, supported, connected and thriving communities. This position will work with young people and a range of government departments, non-government organisations, agencies, community groups and other stakeholders. 

This temporary role will be available for approximately 7 months, with an expected end date in mid-November 2024. Part time hours and job share opportunities may be considered.

We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of our values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:

• Demonstrated experience working with young people and children within a Community Development framework.                                                             
• Create and Innovate: displays initiative & considers different ideas and perspectives.
• Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal) applicable to working with (and understanding) the community sector.         
• Well-developed planning, facilitation and project management skills, appropriate to the co-ordination of a broad suite of events and programs.    
• Very good analytical skills with the ability to make sound judgements and devise innovative solutions, both independently and as part of a team
