Job description

We have a wonderful opportunity available within our Community and Culture group for two Community Development Officers

We are looking for a person with knowledge and experience in the disability sector to focus on Access and Inclusion and a person with knowledge and experience in the drivers behind anti-social and illegal behaviours, at a community level, to focus on Community Wellbeing and Safety.

We would love to hear from you if you are highly motivated, responsible and a resourceful self-starter. An ideal candidate will enjoy a mixture of independent work and contribution towards team outcomes. The successful applicants will join a group of passionate and values-driven professionals.

ABOUT YOU

  • Tertiary qualifications or Diploma in community services, social or behavioural sciences, social work or another relevant field, and/or equivalent experience working in these areas, particularly with vulnerable cohorts in a community setting.
  • Capacity to lead and inspire others to embrace diversity and inclusion as core values, together with a well-developed understanding and experience of Community Development principles, engagement and community participation.
  • Relevant experience in program coordination and partnership development, together with highly developed facilitation skills. This includes the ability to recognise who you need to ‘bring to the table’ to support projects/programs.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic plans and policies at the local level, or capacity to acquire these skills.

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

The positions are full-time and ongoing. A base salary between $81,424 and $91,878 will be offered to the preferred candidates + 12.5% superannuation and a 19-day month.  A guaranteed 2.5% salary increase applies to this salary (or CPI) in July 2024.

Council offers to support your professional development and career growth, the opportunity to purchase additional leave, 12 days of personal leave per year, salary continuance insurance and a superb work life balance - plus many other benefits.
