About the Role
This is a 12 month fixed term contract based in Ultimo, working face to face with the community, 21 hours per week.
The Harris Community Centre works with individuals, families, groups, workers and students within the local community to provide a range of resources, information, services to support them.
As the Community Development Worker you will identify and prioritise activities and strategies that will strengthen the community and build the profile of the Harris Community Centre (alongside our communications team!).
Day to day, you will work towards developing and coordinating community events (such as NAIDOC week, family focused events) and parenting programs that focus on building capacity.
You’ll also act as a point of guidance for volunteer and student placements delivering information and referral supports
About You
Experience working within a similar role with a commitment to using a person centred approach to support others in the community
Experience in facilitating Community Development initiatives with an understanding of Community Development principles
Computer literacy with experience in social media platforms
Good communication and relationship building skills
Ability to work autonomously with good time management
