About the Opportunity:

The primary role of the Community Engagement Specialist involves executing diverse community-based fundraising initiatives to elevate the visibility of Flinders Foundation and involve a wide spectrum of individuals, groups, and organisations in the community to generate philanthropic support.

This position is pivotal in facilitating community fundraising activities and events, collaborating closely with the community, and supporting the Manager, Community Partnerships in the implementation of the Community Partnerships strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement a variety of community fundraising activities and events (including peer-to-peer strategies, beneficiary and Community Engagement campaigns) that engage a broad range of stakeholders, generate philanthropic support, deliver revenue, growth in participation and raise the profile of Flinders Foundation.
  • Deliver excellent supporter experience and care through all contact points ensuring queries, complaints and fundraising support is timely and efficient.
  • Act as first point of contact for all community fundraising-related enquiries from phone, online, email, and in person.
  • Welcome, motivate, coach supporters of Flinders Foundation and help them to achieve their goals.
  • Monitor, measure and report on all community fundraising and engagement initiatives as part of a continuous improvement process.
  • Maintain the integrity of all engagement-related information in the Salesforce database, ensuring all records are accurate, comprehensive and up to date.
  • Contribute to income and audience growth in fundraising programs (including peer-to-peer strategies, beneficiary and Community Engagement campaigns).
  • Recruit, onboard and manage volunteers to assist with the coordination of community-related events and activities.
  • Engage with, recognise and thank supporters, including the coordination of donor tours and functions, face-to-face and by using technology, celebrating success and demonstrating impact.
  • Promote and encourage participation in fundraising activities by clinicians, researchers and staffing groups across Flinders University and the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network.

To be successful in the role you will demonstrate:

  • 3-5 years prior experience in a role that involves high empathy/service levels to clients, supporters or the community.

  • Prior exposure to community fundraising and engagement programs or similar community services.

  • Proven success in coordinating and maintaining relationships.

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships across a highly diverse group of stakeholders.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to different audiences, and inspire them to be involved and support a cause.

  • Proven organisational skills, ability to multi-task, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.

  • Upbeat, friendly, courteous and respectful phone manner as well as comforting personal demeanor.

  • Experience in coordinating projects, events and activities.

  • Strong computer literacy skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of products.

Candidates will be required to provide a current SAPOL police check, DHS Working with Children’s Check and evidence that they have received 2 doses of a TGA-approved COVID-19 vaccine, or have a medical exemption.

Flinders Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation in the Health Care Sector. This means that you can salary package up to $15,900 per annum for living expenses and $2,650 for meals/entertainment to reduce your tax.
