Community Engagement Specialist

  • Permanent full-time, 35 hours per week
  • Salary range from $1,834.80 - $1986.00 per week + Super

We have an exciting position available for someone with a passion for community to engage and involve our residents in a range of activities and projects. The Community Engagement Specialist is a role that will work with teams and staff from across Council to support and facilitate consultation activities for a variety of projects.

About the role:

As part of the Communications Team, you will research, write and develop strategic consultation plans and programs and provide content for online and print promotion. You will host community consultation events and activities for face to face engagement opportunities.

The right applicant will have demonstrated experience in community consultation and recognise the importance of data collection and analysis to drive decisions of the future.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • Relevant or related tertiary qualification or extensive job-related experience.
  • Knowledge or awareness of best practice Community Engagement principles and methodology.
  • Ability to develop Community Engagement plans including a variety of innovative engagement methods to reach a diverse community.
  • Experience and skills in writing for and using digital platforms to effectively engage with the community.
  • Proven experience of building effective relationships with a range of stakeholders including establishing, maintaining and facilitating effective reference or working groups.
  • Passion for the community and community-related activities.
  • Commitment to living our values of respect, integrity, trust, teamwork and optimism.
