Package valued in excess of $170,000 including:
· Base salary of $104,093 per annum plus shift penalties
· Employer contribution to superannuation at 16% of base salary

The Indian Ocean Territories Administration (IOTA) is currently seeking motivated, professional and suitably qualified person to join our team as a Community Health Nurse within the Indian Ocean Territories Health Service (IOTHS) based on Christmas Island.
The IOTHS delivers primary and acute health care service in two of Australia’s most remote and most spectacular settings - Christmas Island (CI) and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands (CKI). The IOTHS includes a 24-hour eight bed hospital and primary care facility on CI and clinics on Home and West Islands in the CKI. The IOTHS is committed to “Working with our communities to keep us healthy for the whole of our lives”.
The key responsibilities of the Community Health Nurse are to provide collaborative community nursing care to clients consistent with primary health care principles and practices; provide support to Home and Community Care (HACC) and Disability Services clients; and coordinate and facilitate delivery of tele-health services. They will supervise and support Health Workers and participate (0.2 FTE) in a 24/7 clinical nursing roster of day, evening, night and weekend shifts that may include on-call.
Our ideal applicant will have experience or qualifications in Community Health, health promotion, public health or chronic disease management; demonstrated recent nursing experience in a remote or rural environment; well-developed clinical assessment skills including a demonstrated ability to manage emergency presentations; and demonstrated knowledge of HACC and experience in the delivery of community services.
The successful candidate will also have well-developed skills in conflict resolution, negotiation and problem solving within small teams; and demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to quality improvement including a demonstrated willingness to pursue ongoing professional development. Experience living and working in a cross-cultural setting; language skills in community languages of Chinese or Malay; and experience/knowledge of Disability Services programs will be well regarded.
To be considered, applicants must hold registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse; a current C class manual driver’s licence transferable to the Indian Ocean Territories; and a valid Western Australia (WA) Working with Children Check. They must be able to provide proof of vaccination or immunity as required by IOTHS and will be subject to pre‑employment screening and health assessments.
