- Registered Nurse (Division 1) with AHPRA, with current registration and hold a current Australian Drivers Licence.
As primary health care workers in the community, nurses are required to be involved in the continuous monitoring of the health status of communities as well as responding to episodic health needs. You will need to be experienced in multiple nursing skills including; wound care, palliative care, portacath and central line management, continence management and negative pressure wound therapy.
The focus of community nursing is on the promotion and maintenance of health. It is also concerned with early recognition of and prompt intervention in the disease process and with rehabilitation activities, all of which aim to prevent disease, retard its progress, minimize its effects and assist the individual to achieve and maintain an optimum level of independence, or a peaceful death when life can no longer be sustained.
Community Nurses, recognising the importance of social and ecological influences on the health needs of the individual, accept the responsibility to ensure that community nursing is relevant by developing responsive strategies to enable them to adapt to the changing health needs of the community.
