The Role
Reporting to the Program Lead Community Connections this role will be responsible for coordinating Community Participation and communications for Melbourne Water's natural resource management programs funded through the Australian Government's Regional Delivery Partners Program. The Coordinator plays a significant role in supporting delivery of environmental and sustainable agricultural projects by encouraging participation and sharing stories, key messages and recognising and rewarding effort. The role will work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders including Australian Government, community groups, Traditional Owner organisations, and the agriculture Sector.
This is a part-time 3 day a week fixed term contract to June 2028.
This will be achieved through:
  • Ensuring Melbourne Water meets its obligations for Community Participation and Communications as a Regional Delivery Partner to the Australian Government.
  • Support to the coordination of workshops, events or activities that engage researchers, industry and community members to define innovative practices and approaches that improve the condition of natural resources in the Port Phillip and Western Port region.
  • Lead communication and Community Participation initiatives with stakeholders and the broader community to promote the Regional Delivery Partners Program and natural resource management in this region.
  • Prepare a wide-range of communications materials including but not limited to newsletters, bulletins, display materials, social media and digital content which is clear and effective in promoting and supporting the delivery of projects and services.
Your Skills and Experience:
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in Community Participation and communications within a natural resource management context.
  • The proven ability to collaboratively and cooperatively solve problems, negotiate innovative solutions to difficult tasks, and to develop and improve effective relationships and partnerships with a range of stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
  • High level of communication skills suited to traditional and modern communication channels including written reports, websites, traditional media and social media.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem-solving, decision making, political judgement and adaptive management.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, monitoring and reporting.
  • Experience working in sensitive political environments.
