Aboriginal Family Support Services (AFSS) has been serving South Australian Aboriginal communities for over 40 years. We are passionate and committed to working with families and community to keep children safe in family, community and culture.
Your new role
You will be hands on in delivering AFSS suite of Community Safety & Wellbeing programs across South Australia. Based in the northern suburbs, this role will require you to actively engage with community groups and service organisations to develop partnerships that enhance the delivery of programs to Aboriginal communities.
Frequent travel within the metro area and overnight absences and travel in small planes to regional is a regular feature of the role.
Who we are looking for
You will be an exceptional facilitator delivering sessional programs that support Aboriginal community members, families, groups and communities to build and strengthen their capacity.
You will have strong relationship building, facilitation and communication skills.
You will be required to liaise and consult with a broad cross-section of the community and mainstream service providers.
You will be passionate about working alongside individuals and community to build knowledge and skills that support parents and families to be strong, healthy and connected.
You will have an understanding of the impacts of Trauma, Child Development, Domestic and Family Violence.
A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is highly desirable and relevant qualifications in Social Sciences, Behavioural Sciences or the Community Services field will be well regarded.
What you need
- Extensive experience in the development and delivery of training/Group Facilitation
- A South Australian Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- A National Police Check
- A NDIS Employment Clearance
- A Safe Environments for Children and Young People – Through their eyes Certificate
- A current Australian Drivers License
- Unrestricted eligibility to work in Australia

Ideally You Will Also Have
- A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is highly desirable and relevant qualifications in Social Sciences, Behavioural Sciences or the Community Services field will be well regarded. If selected for an interview, you will need to facilitate a 30 minute training workshop as part of the interview.
- Demonstrated experience in being able to work with Aboriginal communities and representatives across the Government and NGO sectors
