Our Opportunity
Work Location: Perth with occasional site travel - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
As a Senior Advisor Communities you will assist in the delivery of Fortescue’s Corporate Partnerships and community engagement activities. You will represent Fortescue through a variety of community-related activities, forums and events.
You will be accountable for gaining stakeholder support for Fortescue’s presence and building enduring relationships with local communities, in support of our mining and energy activities.
You will also act as the Grievance Officer for Fortescue Metals, overseeing the delivery and ongoing management of Fortescue’s global grievance mechanism.
Key Responsibilities
Manage Corporate Partnerships: Lead Fortescue’s Corporate Partnerships, leveraging all opportunities for the benefit of our communities, employees, and brand.
Design and Implement Engagement Strategies: Support the development and execution of engagement strategies to cultivate enduring relationships with communities, local governments, and interest groups.
Centralised Grievance Management: Facilitate the centralised management and reporting for community grievances, ensuring timely acknowledgment, triaging, referral, and closure.
Social Risk Management: Identify and manage social risks and opportunities associated with Fortescue’s business activities and interactions with local communities and stakeholders.
Social Impact Management: Develop and deliver on all required social impact management plans aligned with project requirements.
Social Investment Planning: Support the development and implementation of a social investment plan for communities of interest in collaboration with local communities and aligned to project requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other Fortescue teams interfacing directly with partners and communities, including Pilbara communities’ team, First Nations, environment, project, and development teams.
Stakeholder Representation: Represent Fortescue at key stakeholder engagements in community or industry forums.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in community/stakeholder engagement, partnership management, or social performance, preferably within the resources sector, energy industry, or equivalent.
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
- Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex mining and energy project information to diverse audiences.
- High-level data management, interpretation, and reporting skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage diverse workloads and deliver high-quality results on time.
- Agility and resilience in managing multiple priorities and diverse workloads.
- Flexibility to attend or manage attendance at multiple corporate events outside of regular work hours, including occasional weekends.
- Current C-class driving licence.
