This is a Pool process with permanent and fixed term, full time and part time opportunities.
The aim of this process is to fill positions across Western Australia.
Currently, there are four (4) permanent position(s) available for filling, in Fremantle, Mirrabooka, Maddington and Kalgoorlie.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Community Work Officer (CWO) works with designated adult offenders subject to Community Work obligations of Orders issued by the sentencing and releasing authorities. The CWO works with the aim of ensuring that the offenders in their care satisfy the requirements of their Community Work obligations according to legislation and Departmental policy through providing reparation to the community, and by giving offenders an opportunity to develop new skills and thus contribute to their rehabilitation. We are looking for individuals who undertake their work with a focus on the health and safety of themselves and others that they are responsible for.
Community programs vary widely and can range from outdoor work programs such as graffiti removal and parks and garden maintenance, to indoor programs such as art creation.
The role includes building community partnerships with a wide variety of government and non-government organisations to develop and manage suitable Community Work programs for adult offenders. The position may involve weekend work (penalty rates apply) dependant on the location.
The Kalgoorlie position may have access to GROH housing.

Pool Recruitment
This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent and fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. Applicants found suitable in this pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies at similar locations, with the Department of Justice for the duration of the pool.

ELIGIBILITY
All Community Work Officers must:
- Applicants must possess a current C Class drivers’ licence.
- Demonstrated experience in manual trades/light industry and/or arts and crafts is required.
- Attained or be able to attain prior to appointment a Senior First Aid Accreditation.
- Have successfully completed or be able to successfully complete (prior to appointment) Safety Awareness Training (White Card).
Community Work Officers servicing regional areas are required to:
- Be away from home for periods of time.
- Is required to drive vehicles (including 4WD) with manual transmissions.
- travel via airplane including light aircraft.
