Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Community Projects Officer to join our team in Kununurra, Western Australia. The primary purpose of the Community Projects Officer is to engage job seekers in meaningful work-for-the-dole (“WfD”) activities and assisting them to build their capacity and skills for future employment opportunities. Wherever possible, activities will closely relate to career pathways documented in the job seekers’ Job Plan.
Responsibilities:
• Supervising, training and guiding job seekers in safe work-like environments.
• Supporting the development of employable skills, such as workplace communication.
• Assisting with the completion of reports, inclusive of job seeker attendance records.
• Supporting the broader Activities Team with identification and development of activities as required.
• Travelling to remote Job Pathway sites as required to support the implementation of programs
Mandatory Experience:
• Excellent relationship building skills including the ability to motivate and build rapport with others.
• Well-developed planning, time management and organisational skills.
• A proven strong personal initiative with a proven ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
• Possess a demonstrated passion for community development and/or helping vulnerable people in the community.
• Well-developed oral communication skills as well as sound written skills.
• A current manual C Class drivers license.
• National Police Certificate
Preferred Experience:
• Previous experience working with Indigenous Australians and organisations and a demonstrated understanding of the social, economic and environmental factors impacting on local (rural and remote)
communities.
