Did you know that 92 million tonnes of clothing end up in landfills every year?
We want you to be part of the solution!
About us
Our business is about sustainability and giving clothes a second life. French Fripe is a second-hand clothing wholesaler, working with retailers in Australia and across the Asia-Pacific region. We have diverse client relationships ranging from sole traders to public companies. We operate in an industry which is sustainable, but also growing exponentially. The Consignment team provides a weekly stock selection and preparation service to several of our larger retail clients. We are currently looking for a dynamic, fashion loving professional to join the team. The position is available immediately.
About you
You enjoy clothes and take an interest in the details: you are curious and knowledgeable about fabrics, clothing styles, manufacturing, brands and history. You are able to recognise some of these features when looking at an item. You have some professional experience coordinating procedures and working effectively to lead a team. You thrive in a busy environment where you can visually appreciate the stock and the output of your work. You are looking for a full time role where you will be expected to lead a team in relation to workflow, techniques and process, and be professionally challenged to develop skills that will further your career.
About the role
All Consignment orders have a common weekly dispatch deadline. The team operates in a coordinated manner under the guidance of the Manager, preparing up to 2500 items a week to be displayed for sale in a retail setting. Once the cycle is complete, the team work quickly to clean and reorganise their workspace before commencing the process anew.
Preparing to step into a Supervisory role within the team will require 3 months of induction and training: the first month will be focussed on mastering stock preparation techniques as well as building up speed and efficiency, the second month will be about classification and pricing of stock, and the third month will be designed to hand over operational responsibilities of the department from the existing Manager to the Supervisor.
Success in the role will be defined by effective handover of operational responsibilities of the department to the Supervisor within the first 90 days. Ongoing success will be defined by the new Supervisor leading the team’s success in processing stock effectively to meet weekly deadlines, and by working in harmony to reach speed and accuracy KPIs.
Driver's licence (manual gearbox) is also an advantage as this will permit the Supervisor to participate in stock delivery processes and visit with nearby clients (10km radius).
The role broadly includes (but is not limited to) the following activities:
- Supervision and training of department activities which include:
- Quality control
- Stockdressing
- Stock classification
- Steaming
- Attaching security tags
- Ticketing items for sale
