Summary
The primary objective of the Construction Crew manager is to manage a number of internal field teams to efficiently and safely deliver wireless projects across a number of regions and across a number of projects, quote for works, manage budgets, meet financial KPI's and provide progress reporting to key stakeholders.
About the Role
Service Stream's Telecommunications division are currently seeking a Construction Crew Manager to join our growing company.
Nature of position: Permanent, Full Time / Max Term etc.>
Location: Melbourne, VIC / Sydney, NSW / Brisbane, Qld
Reporting Line: Construction Manager
Key responsibilities
- Uphold the Business Charter and be seen to demonstrate the behaviours and the conduct within the Charter
- Lead by example and demonstrate the Service Stream values in everything we do
- Complete all works safely and in line with company and legislative HSE requirements
- Assist in the recruitment of field team members from a variety of recruitment strategies
- Assist in setting up the field teams into cohesive units with adequate and appropriate tools, test equipment, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and vehicles to enable efficient work delivery
- Assist in arranging on-boarding and training as required for field team members
- Ensure all field team members staff are compliant according to the requirements of the Training Needs Analysis (TNA)
- Manage ongoing training and refresher requirements to ensure the safe operations of the internal build teams, that they remain compliant and appropriately skilled / competent to be optimal for the works they carry out in their daily operations
- Plan, schedule, and co-ordinate the works to ensure teams are efficient and completing works in a profitable manner
- Hire of equipment required to carry out works to ensure the works are completed on time and on budget.
- Manage the project budgets, provide reporting on key financial and progress metrics
- Liaise with Project Managers and Project Engineers on regular progress updates and upcoming schedules
- Monitor and govern effective performance of the build crews with focus on HSE, Quality, Delivery, Financial outcome
- Review and provide efficiencies across works
- Provide a financial outcome on sites that is 10% EBITDA greater than what would be experienced by using external constructors
- Provide ongoing feedback into the delivery team on improvement initiatives that will enable EBITDA / Safety / -Efficiency improvements
- Provide guidance and direction in dealing with complex discipline specific issues across the business
- Assist project teams in the establishment and placement of resources for new project requirements as and when they arise
- Provide training to team via workshops, bulletins, formal education
- Performance management of employees
- Complete individual team member PDR
- Participate in HSE investigations
Experience required
- Demonstrated major project experience, minimum 6 years' experience in a similar role, leading a team, managing budgets, costs, consultants, and clients
- Significant experience in managing Wireless telecommunication roll-out projects end-to-end
- Strong technical and project deployment roll-out including SMR and construction work, GF Civil work, ICIO and Microwave Transmission work
- Very strong understanding of Quality Assurance, quality management processes and continual improvement
- Solid working knowledge of Occupation Health and Safety
- Material Management including FIM & BOM, warehousing, consumables
- Best practise site deployment methodologies
- Excellent client management Skills
- Commercial Acumen and problem-solving skills
- Rigging ticket and min 5 years' experience in the field (preferred)
- Degree qualifications in Engineering or Project Management (preferred)
