Elecnor has been contracted to build EnergyConnect, a new 700km Transmission Line extending from Wagga Wagga NSW to the South Australian border.
This backbone infrastructure will connect customers with more renewable energy enabling a further 4950MW of generation capacity, save NSW customers $180 million a year and create 1,500 new construction jobs in regional NSW.
Construction of EnergyConnect is underway in various locations across the project area.
The Role
Elecnor Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Construction Manager to join the team on a 14/7 roster. This opportunity could suit a local candidate or someone interested in a FIFO opportunity.
As a Construction Manager , you will work with a diverse multidisciplinary team, cohesively delivering Project EnergyConnect.
The Construction Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the OHTL discipline of the PEC project.
Your primary responsibilities include interpreting and ensuring compliance with contract requirements, managing the construction team, and adhering to project schedules and budgets. You will provide clear direction to the project team, prioritise activities, and establish efficient work sequences.
Safety and environmental considerations are paramount, and Construction Managers actively promote a culture that prioritises these aspects in every aspect of the project.
Additionally, you will bring expertise to the pre-construction planning phases, offering constructability insights to ensure a seamless transition from planning to construction. In essence, you will play a multifaceted role, driving the project forward while safeguarding safety, quality, and compliance throughout its lifecycle.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Understand all contract requirements
- Understand baseline program and drive construction effort to meet milestones
- Actively participate in development of a construction HSSE culture that makes safety and environmental awareness a natural part of the job
- Provide clear direction to the Project construction team on priority activities and work sequencing
- Promote clear, open communication amongst the construction team
- Ensure Work Instructions and SWMS / JHAs are developed for all construction activities
- Develop Hazard Register for Project in consultation with the HSSE team and appropriate stakeholders
- Provide constructability input during design phases
Skills & Experience:
- 10+ years construction experience, with 5+ years relevant industry management experience
- Extensive experience in the delivery of major OHTL projects
- Extensive experience in all aspects of on-site construction
- Training and experience in managing on-site safety and personnel issues
- High focus on ensuring that all aspects of the construction work is performed safely
