The OrganisationYou will be working in a 236-bed regional hospital that services 10 rural hospitals and multi-purpose health facilities across the region. The Health Service is embarking on an exciting period of growth with a $250m redevelopment of the base hospital to provide an additional 112 inpatient beds and an expansion of outpatient and support services.Clinicians working here enjoy a challenging and rewarding clinical case mix that includes busy inpatient and outpatient general medicine, paediatrics, surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics & gynaecology and mental health services. These core inpatient services are well integrated with active emergency medicine, anaesthetic and intensive care departments and supported by a wide range of allied health services.The Department of Medicine is a vibrant, collaborative, and supportive workplace. You will be part of a team comprising physicians with different subspecialties (including endocrinology, respiratory, infectious disease, oncology, neurology, nephrology, acute medicine etc) working in close partnership with cardiology (who provide 24/7 Primary PCI service), emergency medicine (FACEM lead) and intensive care (CICM led).
The Job

• As a Consultant General & Respiratory Medicine, your role will be comprised of 0.5FTE General Medicine and 0.5FTE subspecialty duties on an alternating fortnightly basis
• As a Consultant in General Medicine, you will rotate through the acute assessment unit and general medicine teams as well as participate in the on-call and weekend roster
• As a Consultant in Respiratory medicine, you will be involved in inpatient consultation with medical patients, outpatient specialty clinics and relevant procedural lists (bronchoscopy etc)
• You will work closely with 2 other respiratory physicians a registrar and several respiratory nurses
• Consultants work with a clinical case mix that is broad, challenging and professionally satisfying
• The position is responsible for assisting the Director in the provision of high-quality clinical services as part of the Department of Medicine, education of Medical Staff and Students, Allied Health, interested Community Groups and Nursing Staff
• The position will involve active participation in patient safety, audit, research, and service planning activities
• You will be supported by a full team of junior doctors including BPTs, PHOs, RMOs and Interns

Requirements

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent
