Are you an upper limb fellowship trained Orthopaedic surgeon looking for real work life balance, 300 days of sunshine a year, minimal commute or traffic jams, outdoor activities? Then this is the job you’ve been waiting for.
The role is to provide specialist upper limb services, elective and trauma, including shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. The successful candidate will work closely with the hand therapy service and physiotherapists.

The Orthopaedic unit places significant emphasis on working as a cohesive supportive team and they look forward to welcoming the successful candidate into their work family of a Clinical Director, Staff Specialists and SMO, with subspeciality interests of arthroplasty, sports, foot and ankle, shoulder and spine.

They have one AOA SET trainee, PHOs, RMOs and Interns. Medical students from the University of Queensland rotate through the Department an Orthogeriatrician working alongside them.
The role is to provide specialist upper limb services, elective and trauma, including shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. The successful candidate will work closely with the hand therapy service and physiotherapists.

The Hospital:
This is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for the region, now providing integrated cancer care services in Central Queensland in the newly established building boasting state of the art medical equipment.

Location:
Situated close to stunning beaches, perfect for snorkelling, scuba diving and boating and surrounded by the Ranges/Mountain thus creating an impressive backdrop for the vibrant City and coast.

The city boasts several high performing Schools, over 80 education facilities including public and private schools (preparatory year followed by year 1 to year 12), special education, distance education, TAFE and University.

The town has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, this is a City for lifestyle, there are few places in the world where the average person can afford to live in such a beautiful city surrounded by tropical gardens and architecture, travel only five minutes to work, yet have top-class education, sporting and cultural facilities on the doorstep.

Mandatory qualification:

  • MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. 
  • Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA).
  • This will require Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in the specialty of Orthopaedic Surgery, or equivalent recognised qualification. o Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program with the appropriate bodies.
