About Paediatric Oncology
The Cancer Centre is an integral part of the Monash Children's Hospital (MCH), caring for approximately 30% of Victoria's childhood cancer patients. It has inpatient beds and an ambulatory care centre that provides complex cancer care across the disease continuum including long term follow-up of cancer survivors. The centre works closely with the Paediatric Integrated Cancer Service (PICS), the Victorian Paediatric Cancer Consortium (VPCC) and the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) to ensure equity of access and coordination of clinical trials for children with cancer in Victoria.
Purpose
The successful applicant for this appointment will be a Paediatric Oncologist who will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide high quality and coordinated clinical care to the patients and their families, by contributing to ward service, the day oncology centre and the after-hours on-call roster.
Key Result Areas:
- Support and assist the Head of Paediatric Oncology in the provision of high quality services at MCH, consistent with the Monash Health values.
- Provide clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care.
- When on call, be available for urgent consultation and assistance in the management of critically ill patients.
- Support academic, research and education (both undergraduate and postgraduate) in Paediatric Oncology
- Contribute to the professional and corporate life of Monash Health by participation in appropriate committees and fora.
- Contribute to ongoing service improvement and clinical innovation to ensure Monash Health provides high quality accessible Paediatric Oncology services within allocated resources to meet the needs of Monash Health patients.
What you need:
- Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications
- Working with Children's Certificate
- MBBS or equivalent
- FRACP or recognised by RACP as specialist in Paediatric Oncology Current registration as a specialist in Paediatric Oncology with the Medical Board of Australia/AHPRA
