You will be working in a 236-bed regional hospital that services 10 rural hospitals and multi-purpose health facilities across the region. The Health Service is embarking on an exciting period of growth with a $250m redevelopment of the base hospital to provide an additional 112 inpatient beds and an expansion of outpatient and support services.
Clinicians working here enjoy a challenging and rewarding clinical case mix that includes busy inpatient and outpatient general medicine, paediatrics, surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics & gynaecology and mental health services. These core inpatient services are well integrated with active emergency medicine, anaesthetic and intensive care departments and supported by a wide range of allied health services.
The Job
- You will join the Specialist Palliative Care Service (SPCS) to improve the quality of life for patients and their families facing the problems associated with life-limiting illness. This can be achieved through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and treatment of pain and other problems, in the physical, psychological and spiritual domains
- The service provides Palliative Care support to inpatients, outpatient clinics and a community program to assist patients and carers in their own homes. A multidisciplinary team working within specialist Palliative Care provides holistic, coordinated care to patients and their carers across the care continuum, with close collaboration with other health professionals
- You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the provision of appropriate patient care
- Alongside another Palliative Care Physician, you will guide the management of Palliative Care patients in both the inpatient and community settings
- You will be supported by a registrar trainee, nurses and allied health staff
- Consultants will also demonstrate professional leadership within a specialist medical area and make available training, education and supervision to medical students, junior medical staff and other healthcare providers
- Total remuneration of up to $514,452

- Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (FAChPM), or equivalent
