About the role

The Consultant Addiction Psychiatrist is responsible for clinical leadership within the Adult Mental Health Program to ensure that the consumers of the service receive treatment and care that is of the highest quality in a safe manner..

In this role you will work alongside the Senior Clinicians and MDT to deliver high quality clinical services, safety and quality oversight and clinical leadership.

You will be responsible for supervision of RANZCP trainees and medical students of the University of Melbourne, in particular providing training and clinical supervision to both addiction medicine and addiction psychiatry trainees.

We are looking for

Current registration with AHPRA
Advanced certificate or equivalent experience in Addiction Psychiatry
High level knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014
Demonstrated experience in clinical teaching, supervision and research.

Selection Criteria

Essential : Current Registration as a Medical Officer with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
Essential : Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate positively with and appropriately with patients and others
Desirable : In no more than 500 words, please provide an example (as an attached document) where you have demonstrated your commitment to providing a quality service to patients and their families. Please outline the situation, what actions you took, your role, who else you involved and the outcomes
Essential : Advanced certificate or equivalent experience in Addiction Psychiatry that is recognised by RANZCP
Essential : Excellent clinical skills and experience in providing psychiatric care to adults with mental health disorder
Essential : Demonstrated ability in the provision clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team and to work effectively with multiple stakeholders and partnerships
Essential : Ability to participate in strategic and operational service planning relevant to adult mental health in GVAMHS.
Essential : Highly developed interpersonal, written and oral communication and presentation skills and an ability to work flexibly and respond to the demands of the service
Essential : A satisfactory National Criminal History Record Check, Victorian 'Employee' Working with Children Check and completion of a Commonwealth of Australia Statutory Declaration will be required from prospective candidates prior to commencement of employment.
