The Organisation
You will be working at a 298-bed specialist state-wide paediatric hospital and trauma centre. This hospital provides treatment for the most serious medical cases, as well as secondary services including inpatient, outpatient and day-stay care, caring for children up to the age of 16. It is a centre of excellence for teaching and research, partnering in major paediatric research and education initiatives led by the Telethon Kids Institute and the State's universities.
The hospital's Inpatient Unit is the state-wide assessment and treatment facility for children and young people up to 16 years old with complex and acute mental health issues. It is a recovery-focused patient and family-centred service. It offers a seven-day multidisciplinary program in a safe environment for voluntary and involuntary patients as authorised under the Mental Health Act (2014). The unit offers short-term assessment, brief intervention and therapeutic group programs, depending on the needs of the patient.
The Job

• A unique and exciting position for a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist within a specialist paediatric inpatient mental health unit
• You will play a pivotal role in delivering diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Psychiatry
• You will provide clinical leadership in collaboration with the Head of Service and Service Manager
• As a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, you will contribute to teaching, research, quality improvement, and administrative activities
• You will have the opportunity to share your knowledge and skills in teaching and training medical graduates and other professional staff
• You will participate in the shared on-call roster

Requirements

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or equivalent
