About You:

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Consultant Psychiatrist within Older Persons Community Mental Health.

As a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Older PersonsMental Health Service (OPMHS) at Lyell McEwin Hospital, you'd be responsible for providing specialized care to elderly individuals with Mental Health concerns in an inpatient setting. This role involves conducting comprehensive assessments, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized treatment plans, and overseeing the management of complex psychiatric conditions in older adults. It's crucial to recognize that positions within OPMHS are supported on a rotational basis to ensure the service's and staff's needs are met effectively, allowing for a dynamic and responsive approach to patient care.

The consultant is responsible for managing the care of patients in collaboration with the responsible Resident Medical Officers, Registrars, Fellow Consultants, Nurses and Allied Health Professionals. Providing specialist medical services to consumers.

Contribute to the effectiveness of multi-disciplinary services through:

  • Provision of direct Clinical Services
  • Proven ability to empathically work with consumers suffering from a Mental Health disorder and their families/carers and liaise effectively with other agencies.
  • Participation in research programs
