Consultant Psychiatrist

THE POSITION

Are you a dedicated and skilled Psychiatry Registrar seeking a challenging and rewarding opportunity? This is your chance to make a significant impact and advance your career in psychiatry within the Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Service in the Nothern Territory.

As a Psychiatry Registrar, you will provide clinical services to patients at the Training Registrar level within the Top End Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Service. Your role includes active participation in the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists' psychiatric training program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Admit, manage, and discharge patients under the supervision of the Director of Psychiatry.
2. Fulfil statutory requirements under the Northern Territory Mental Health and Related Services Act.
3. Participate in after-hours on-call roster and attend daytime crisis calls.
4. Provide supervision and training to junior medical staff and other clinical staff.
5. Participate fully in the RANZCP Psychiatric Training Program, research, education, and professional development.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Successful candidates will be required to meet the following criteria:

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or approved equivalent.
• Eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia
• AHPRA Registration
• Australian Working Rights
• Working with Children Check
