Consultants at Inside Policy are critical members of our project teams. Participating in project teams, Consultants support Project Leads to successfully deliver projects within tight timeframes for Inside Policy’s clients. Working across projects that traverse a range of social policy areas, Consultants are exposed to a breadth of research tasks and policy issues.

Inside Policy is an Indigenous owned and led social and economic policy advisory firm. Established in 2014 by founder, Kuku Yalanji woman, Natalie Walker, Inside Policy is a trusted partner to governments in delivering social research, consultation, policy reform and evaluation projects in the policy areas of family/domestic violence, child and family services, justice, social impact investment and Indigenous economic development.

The Consultant is responsible for supporting:

  • Senior staff and Project Leads by undertaking project-related research activities such as desktop research, data entry, transcription and drafting sections of reports.
  • Project teams with the development of deliverables including drafting sections of reports.
  • Business development activities including the preparation of elements of proposals for future work.
  • Facilitators of consultation or co-design activities with logistics, to scribe and minute discussions and outcomes.
  • Other tasks as directed by supervisor as required from time-to-time.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Clear communicator with a high standard of written and verbal communication
  • Ability to research across a variety of methods and sources and collate results into clear, structured reports.
  • Ability to quickly acquire skill and knowledge in decolonised research methodologies.
  • Understanding of the Australian policy environment and context, in particular policies and programs that affect First Nations Australians.
  • Understanding of ethics and integrity in research.
  • Ability to acquire new knowledge across a range of policy areas.
  • Strategic thinking and proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to work in a team, independently and under supervision
  • Ability to work to deadlines, in sometimes fast moving and competing environments.
  • Policy, program or service delivery experience in a government, NGO or consulting role is desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or higher.
