Our client is seeking to engage an APS6 Content Designer on a non-ongoing contract for 6 months, with possibility of extension.

Eligibility Requirement: BASELINE Clearance required.

About the team:

We're a team of communications and content experts passionate about getting the best results for users of the content we produce. We develop content in line with our intranet playbook, governance framework and Australian Government Style Manual. Our content workstreams include major upgrades, BAU maintenance and user research.

The Communications Branch provides quality, full-service support for the department and ministers' offices. This includes media and speechwriting, strategic external and internal communications, digital engagement, branding, and visual design.

The opportunity:

The intranet team within the Internal Communications and Creative Services section is seeking a talented Content designer with significant experience designing user-centred content. You will coordinate, design, write and publish organisation-wide messages on the department's intranet platforms.

Our ideal candidate:

You will be passionate about creating user-centred content to help staff easily find and use the information they need to do their jobs. You'll be self-motivated and happy working in an agile setting.

What you will do:

• Support clients in the timely updating of intranet content, using your SharePoint publishing skills.
• Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to develop content in line with user needs while balancing business goals.
• Manage the end-to-end workflow to update old content and create new content.
• Refresh and develop and publish new content that meets digital best practice, accessibility and readability and content management standards.
• Advocate for user needs to internal stakeholders, drawing on data-driven insights about content performance.
• Use a range of technologies to manage your work: Azure DevOps, readability tool, SharePoint Online and Service Now.
• Make an active contribution to team planning and meetings.
• Communicate constructive and innovative suggestions on how we use content to meet business goals.
• Other duties as required to assist in the effective functioning of the digital content in the team.

What we are looking for:

• Client-service focused, responsive and supportive content design and SharePoint publishing.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to make a positive contribution to client and team relationships.
• Independently run workshops and host discussions with clients.
• Plan content projects, identify user needs, create prototypes, draft, edit, pair write and coordinate clearances.
• Map content across intranet sites, identify potential gaps and offer solutions. Understand UX design.
• Work well with stakeholders and content colleagues across the process and to reach quality outcomes in agreed timelines.
• Write user stories, map journeys, pair write, use analytics, conduct/support user research.
• Use plain English, digital writing and editing skills. Translate complex terminology into clear and engaging user-focused content.
• Manage content activities and workflows effectively, adopting and supporting team tools and processes.
• Ability to create accessible content using Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Australian Government Style Manual.
• Publish content using content management systems (we use SharePoint Online and Service Now).
• Positive and proactive attitude toward agile project delivery and planning.
