The Role
- Accountable for procurement planning, tendering and contract formation and Contract Management activities, ensuring compliance with legislation, procurement policies, processes, and procedures.
- Provide advice, direction, assistance and services for procurement policy, technical, commercial, legal, financial investigation, and other requirements to support Contract Management outcomes.
- Use experience to deliver procurement related documentation including templates, schedule, correspondence, reports, submissions, plans and strategies, risk and performance reviews, contract change proposals and other Contract Management documentation.
- Apply legal principles, legislative and policy compliance obligations and critical commercial risk and performance requirements related to procurement and Contract Management.
- Engage and negotiate with clients and stakeholders and respond to complex enquiries and Contract Management issues, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action where necessary.
- Initiate and recommend mitigation strategies for the risks associated with Contract Management activities, supplier's performance and compliance with mandatory requirements and suggest relevant improvement.
- Seek, interpret, and provide advice and assistance on complex procurement and Contract Management issues.
About our Team
The Infrastructure Project Services (IPS) manages the quoting and installation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment for Defence in new and existing buildings for Defence Protected Network (DPN) and Defence Secret Network (DSN) workstations, data centers, Audio Visual (AV), Video Teleconferencing (VTC) and voice communications, with in Australia and Overseas.
Our Ideal Candidate
An APS5 Contract Management Officer will be accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will interpret and provide advice within the Contract Management function based on legislation, policy and procedures. They will undertake specialist research and analysis, conduct reviews and perform procedural and clerical support work to achieve results.
The APS5 Contract Management Officer will coordinate and contribute to the work of a team consistent to a work plan and provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members. They may be a team coach or supervise a team and be accountable to set work priorities, allocate work, and manage workflows and performance. They are expected to be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within a work unit.
