MARS Procurement & Commercial Contracts are actively recruiting for a Contracts & Procurement Principal on behalf of a large group within the resources sector. Underground mining expertise essential for this role.
12 month fixed term contract initially. This is an expanding group and therefore other opportunities may well arise in the future, however not guaranteed at this stage.
The Role
You will be responsible for leading procurement & contract activities for a large underground mining project.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead procurement and tender activities relating to underground mining project.
- Maintain and report on procurement project status, activities and timelines
- Prepare Scope of Work and other RFP documentation alongside Project Managers
- Consult with internal legal team in the preparation and drafting of contract documents.
- Finalise and issue tender documentation to participating vendors
- Lead engagement and communication throughout tender process
- Review and analyse vendor submissions and provide recommendations to proceed
- Assist in the negotiation of contractual terms and agreements with vendors
- Prepare contract recommendation and award documentation
- Lead contract award and execution process
- Identifying and creating opportunities for cost reduction
- Ongoing monitoring and managing of contract performance
The Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale underground mining services and mining infrastructure tenders, negotiation and contract award
- Experience in the mining and resources industry
- Expertise in effectively developing, documenting, negotiating and implementing contracts
- Strong commercial, contractual and financial acumen
- Proven ability to communicate effectively to drive positive outcomes with key stakeholders
- Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills
- Knowledge of legal requirements involved with contracts
- Good computer literacy with high level on ERP, contracts and procurement systems, etc
