An exciting opportunity exists for the permanent full-time position of Control Systems Engineer at our Bathurst vegetable and snacking processing plant. Simplot Bathurst employs over 150 people and having been a part of the local community since 1926, continues to produce Edgell products, as well as products for Birds Eye and Chiko.

An investment of $90 million is currently being made at the site. This investment will transform the site into a frozen vegetable centre of excellence, enable increased production capacity, and ultimately help boost local and export volumes. The works which are anticipated to be completed in 2024, will see the sites facilities upgraded, the extension of existing production areas, and the installation of new equipment, including new vegetable processing technologies.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this Mon-Fri role will hold overall responsibility for the the site’s Control Systems (automation) and form an integral part of our daily operations.

• Develop, implement and maintain Process Logic Control systems (noting that our site uses Omron & Allen Bradley PLCs)
• Maintain CITECT SCADA systems.
• Take part in site Continuous Improvement (CI) activities as a technical expert
• Be first point of call as an SME for both operational and trades functions with regard to logic controllers
• Undertake timely diagnostics for control issues
• Integrate and improve Control systems,
• Lead any training with operational and trades staff around new system implementations / methods of work

• You hold a relevant tertiary qualifications (Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics and/or Robotics)
• Proficient Control Systems Engineer with excellent troubleshooting skills
• Demonstrated experience including; plant process control, high speed packaging machinery and robotics
• Food manufacturing environment or industry operating advanced automation systems will be advantageous
• Demonstrated experience with Advanced PLC programming & SCADA (preferably with CITECT, RS Logix and Citect Historian and Ampla Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) software)
