Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator and working an 8:6 roster, the successful candidate will be part of a small highly skilled team that is responsible for maintaining and developing the control system.
The key requirements of the role include investigations, analysis, documentation, design, programming and commissioning. The Control System Engineer is also responsible for setting standards, creating procedures and evaluating work flows.
Key Accountabilities
In addition to this other key accountabilities for the role include;
- Maintain key focus on Health and Safety. Perform all duties assigned in a safe and professional manner;
- Support operational plant when required. Resolve and respond to technical queries relevant to the control system;
- Identify and analyse design changes, modify design drawings where appropriate and implement control changes whilst working within the Management of Change process;
- Accept responsibility for the quality of your work, accuracy and prioritise appropriately according to time constraints;
- Manage your own progress and performance to ensure targets are met;
- Work constructively with others to achieve positive results;
- Continue to develop technical skills and act with integrity while accepting constructive criticism;
- Responsible for system administration (keep updated on new technologies and future applications, system backups, system availability and redundancy checks);
- Monitor and update system access approvals and maintain necessary registers.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Proficient in DCS and PLC systems; relevant experience with industrial Control Systems and control strategies relevant to process plants and mining;
- Knowledge and Experience in Process Plant operations, maintenance and commissioning with the ability to implement control strategies and system changes on an operating plant safely;
- Experience with Delta V, Allen Bradley, Telemetry systems, Network design, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, Modbus and HART protocols;
- Good communication and organizational skills;
- Strong problem solving skills;
- Experience with Pi (OSI Soft) would be beneficial including Pi-AF, Pi Vision & SMT.
