About the Role:
Our client focuses on the development of renewable energy projects and green hydrogen production. Their goal is to contribute to the global transition towards a low-carbon economy by investing in and developing renewable energy infrastructure, such as solar and wind farms, as well as hydrogen production facilities.
As their projects continue to evolve, a position has arisen for a Control System Engineer to join the Projects Team in Perth.

Working Schedule: Monday – Friday
For this role, the person will focus on utilizing Hydrogen Fuel Cells and Battery-Powered Equipment, which may involve applications in Haul Trucks, Trains, Drill Rigs, and similar machinery. They will be a member of the industrial automation team responsible for designing, developing, testing, and launching various heavy industry products and programs worldwide. These projects will utilize hydrogen fuel cell, battery electric, ammonia fuel, and other sustainable energy technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for development and delivery of Control Systems including PLC, Safety systems and SCADA/HMI components for the project.
- Develop Control Systems requirements, specifications, testing, commissioning procedures and control interface documentation.
- Adhere to software development guidelines and software revision control processes.
- Contribute to the software development lifecycle workflow, processes, and framework.
- Perform I/O testing, sequence testing, functional testing, set up communications and troubleshooting of Control Systems and field instrumentation.
- Work in close conjunction with other engineering disciplines and workshop teams working on decarbonisation projects.
- Work with Control Systems vendors, contractors, and suppliers for the delivery and integration of different scopes for the project.
- Preparation of technical documentation, resolve technical queries and technical reviews of vendor deliverables.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Electrical, Control Systems or Mechatronics Engineering.
- 5+ years’ experience with PLC, HMI and SCADA programming, testing, and commissioning.
- Significant experience with Siemens PLCs and TIA Portal is highly regarded.
- Experience with industrial and automotive communication protocols; CAN, Modbus TCP, Profinet, Profibus DP, UDP, etc. is essential.
- Experience with configuration of VVVF drives and DC-DC converters highly advantageous.
- Experience with Ignition SCADA is highly advantageous.
- Experience with Fuel Cells and Battery Management Systems is highly advantageous.
- Experience with V-Model software development is highly advantageous.
- Experience with software version control such as Git, TIA Portal VCI or SVN is advantageous.
- Experience with MATLAB Simulink PLC Coder is highly advantageous.
- Experience with Functional Safety programming is highly regarded.
- Functional Safety qualification from TÜV/Exida or similar preferred.
