ABOUT THE HOOK: The Hook is a new old-school saloon & oyster bar in Kings Cross brought to you by Spanton Hospitality, the team behind Piccolo Bar (which opened in 2021) and Vermuteria (which opened in 2023). The Hook is opening in late May. It will bring oysters back to Bayswater Road, recalling the heyday of Bayswater Brasserie and its iconic freshly shucked oysters. Expect retro vibes and a rejig of the classic oyster bars of New Orleans and San Francisco. Recruitment for the opening team is now open. We need a chef, kitchen hand, floor staff and cocktail bartenders.
The Cook will be responsible for:
- consistent quality food offerings adding to the overall guest experience, as well as keep the kitchen clean and adherent to food safety
JOB TYPE: Full time
DAYS - Wednesday to Sunday (approx 4pm - midnight)
Must be available weekends & nights.
No cash payments.

For this role, you will have:
- Relevant Trade Qualifications
- The Right to work in Australia
- Experience with simple cooking - burgers, fries & oysters
- Minimum 2 years experience
