One of our Restaurants, Crento Italian Restaurant, offers a unique dining experience that revolves around the core principles of simplicity, quality and inclusivity. Established in July 2019 by seasoned industry professionals with a wealth of hospitality expertise, becoming a beloved culinary destination on the Northern Beaches. The restaurant’s menu is a celebration of Italian culinary tradition, with a focus on classic dishes prepared using authentic techniques and fresh, locally sourced ingredients. From hearty pastas and wood-fired pizzas to succulent mains and vibrant salads, there is something for everyone at Crento.
We are looking for a Cook to join our team!
Duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a variety of Italian dishes, including pasta, risotto, pizza, antipasti, and desserts, following authentic recipes and culinary techniques.
- Coordinate food preparation activities to ensure timely delivery of orders and maintain efficiency in the kitchen.
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control to uphold our standards of excellence and meet customer expectations.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, following food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a hygienic kitchen environment.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop new menu items, specials, and seasonal offerings, reflecting the authentic flavors of Italian cuisine.
- Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation, ordering ingredients, and minimizing waste to optimize cost efficiency.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of food, equipment maintenance, and compliance with hygiene standards.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing guidance on culinary techniques, recipes, and kitchen procedures as needed.
- Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth coordination and timely service during busy periods.
- Stay updated on industry trends, culinary innovations, and Italian cuisine developments to continuously enhance your skills and contribute to the restaurant's success.
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or relevant qualifications
- Minimum of two years of work experience
- Proven experience as a cook in Italian cuisine, preferably in a restaurant setting.
- Strong knowledge of Italian cooking techniques, ingredients, and regional variations.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating excellent multitasking and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality food and exceptional dining experiences.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues and interact professionally with customers.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $70,000 - $90,000, plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
