About the role
This is a Permanent part-time position at our beautiful site located in Berwick, working on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday - 8.00 am to 2.00 pm.
Key Responsibilities of the role
- Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook a variety of meals, adhering to menu specifications, portion sizes, and dietary requirements for residents.
- Menu Planning: Collaborate with the Chef to plan and create diverse, balanced, and appealing menus that meet residents' nutritional needs.
- Food Safety: Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, including proper food storage, handling, and temperature control.
- Quality Control: Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation, consistently delivering meals that meet or exceed resident expectations.
- Special Dietary Needs: Accommodate special dietary requirements, including low-sodium, diabetic, vegetarian, and other specific diets, as needed.
- Kitchen Maintenance: Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary ingredients and supplies.
- Assist in Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and minimize food wastage through effective inventory management.
- Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen staff, servers, and other team members to ensure smooth meal service and timely delivery. Management of rostering for all Kitchen staff.
- Adherence to Regulations: Follow all health and safety regulations, including safe food handling and hygiene practices, and maintain required records.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to residents, addressing any concerns or special requests regarding meals.
- Recipe Development: Contribute to the development of new recipes and dishes that cater to residents' preferences and dietary requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on culinary trends, nutrition, and senior dining preferences to enhance the dining experience.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
- A warm and outgoing personality
- A positive ‘can-do’ attitude and provide outstanding customer service to residents
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Experience planning, preparing, cooking and serving meals according to a Food Safety Program.
- Able to cater for special dietary, cultural and spiritual requirements.
- Be a team player
- Be flexible and available for required shifts
- Relate well to a diverse range of people and an understanding of elderly people.

To be successful in this role you will have:
Essential:
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
- Food Handling Certificate
- Manual Handling Training
- Current Police Check and Covid 19 vaccination certificate are essential. Experience in aged care while not essential, will be highly regarded
