Spinifex State College are seeking applications for a full-time temporary Cook to join their school community for a period of 2 years, unless otherwise determined.
If you have a passion for devising interesting and nutritious menus and meals for adolescents and are willing to participate in shift work, this role may suit you. Working in consultation with the Chef, you will be expected to prepare and cook a variety of meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner for up to 45 students and staff.
In addition, you will be required to establish hygienic operations with both staff and students and work both independently and as a team member.

About the Role
This position requires a degree of flexibility with working hours between Tuesday to Saturday during the school terms. Applicants must be willing to start at 5.00am to prepare breakfast and complete the shift in the early afternoon.
Duties will include preparing hot breakfasts in the morning for students and the subsequent cleaning up and disposal of food scraps. The safe and effective use of kitchen utensils and appliances is important to maintain a safe work environment. The maintenance of appliances is also required to ensure the equipment is repaired or replaced if necessary.
The cleaning and maintenance of preparation areas as well as the cold room, freezers and fridges will need to be overseen by the successful applicant.
Trade qualifications are preferred with a Cert IV in Commercial Cookery and any other food handling or equivalent certificates.
